DGBS 5th Anniversary Celebration!

Well hello folks! This is it - this month is the 5th Anniversary of the creation of the DoughyGuy Broadcast System. I have an excellent playlist full of nothing but my favorite stuff featured on DGBS over the years, and this should play all week, until Saturday. Then on Saturday (in the evening) we will switch over to an All-Night Marathon of Pain - A selection of the worst stuff to grace the channel over the years.

When I started DGBS, it was simply to put on movies for my friends to watch online. But quickly I developed a philosophy: Play What No One Else Will Play.

Now, obviously there's some grey area there, but for the most part that meant stuff that kind of gets forgotten in today's disposable, forgettable, rebootable age. And sometimes people discount good stuff simply because it's old, or poorly made. But I treat film and TV like pets at the pound; they all have something special about them, and they all deserve good homes.

DGBS has always been, and will always be, a personally funded venture. That means no ads, no pay-per-view, no monthly subscriptions. Hell, you don't even have to give me your email addresses. That kind of thing is a bit of a rarity these days. Just Watch. That's all I want you to do: Watch.

In any case, thanks for your loyal viewership over the last 5 years. It's been tough lately as my free time seems to be diminishing every year that passes. I've moved from a tiny, cold apartment in the northeastern U.S. to a spacious condo in the Pacific Northwest. I've gone back to school (twice!), and moved from a job answering phones and sorting mail, to a highly technical manufacturing job with loads of room for growth. Things are getting a bit more complicated for me these days.  But I'll do my best to keep DGBS blaring out over the virtual airwaves.

However, I do ask only one thing of you... Tell someone. If you like what you see, show it to someone else. Or give them help in tuning in themselves at home. I've even made it so that (if you have VLC installed) you can easily tune in just by clicking the link in the upper right part of the screen.

Have fun with this week's playlist, thanks for watching, and stay tuned for more!!!

Congrats on 5 years running! This by far has been the best source of material that is available streaming. Thanks for your efforts on keeping us entertained with these media gems for the last 5 years. Can't wait for the Halloween marathon. It has always been a mainstay in my October diet for the last few years. Cheers!

I've been watching for most of that time and the playlists are like an overstuffed closet bursting with old forgotten goodies. Unfortunately nobody I know is as entertained by old movies and such. By the way, Circuitry Man might be a good pick for the channel if you haven't had it on before. That cheesy sci-fi with Vernon Wells(bad guy from Commando) as the villain with a bunch of computer inputs(plugs) in his head takes me back. They made a sequel that was worse.

Perhaps the funniest thing that strikes me about all those 90s sci-fi movies is that they always develop brain-computer interfaces without having mastered wi-fi. It makes me wonder what things would be like if they had galactic telephone lines strung up across the galaxy on Star Trek instead of subspace radio or whatever.

I've seen some great movies that I would have most certainly missed otherwise. "Wicked, Wicked" is one of them.

"Phantom of the Paradise" is another. Congrats on 5 years of wonderful programs. Wishing you many, many more years to come.
