Was the "change of plans" the unlisted showing of Kung Fury? :-) Either way, thanks for showing it! I'd hoped to see it ever since reading Ars Technica's review a few months ago, and it was actually a lot more entertaining than I expected. "Behold! it is me, Thor, Son of Odin and protector of mankind. Check out my pecs."

Also thanks for showing Yellowbeard last week; humorous fantasy is my favorite genre, but I'd never even heard of it!

Well, to be truthful, the Change of Plans was that I originally had a movie called "Zombie '90 - Extreme Pestilence" for the 'Saturday Night Around Midnight Feature'. I remember seeing the Cinema Snob's review of the movie (you can look up the review on YouTube - it's pretty funny) and remember it looked like a good one to put on. But I guess I wasn't paying too much attention to the complete movie when I scheduled it, and when I went back to look up some details on Saturday morning I was reminded of it. There were some pretty gruesome (albeit poorly done) scenes of certain types of violence that made me uncomfortable as a presenter, so I decided to quickly change gears and find another movie to show instead.

I'm not a big person for censorship. After all - it's only a movie. And when it comes to stuff like that it really doesn't bother me, personally. Besides it all looks so fake, how could you take it seriously? But, I made a bit of an unconscious decision when I created DGBS to not cross a certain line in regards to content. And that one was on that line leaning towards the other side.

Kung Fury was always going to be a 'hidden' extra for this weekend, so I didn't include on the playlist. I like throwing in things every once in a while that aren't listed on the playlist, just to keep things interesting. That movie is a thing of beauty, and it makes me feel better that people still have the sense of humor that gave us stuff like Police Squad, or Airplane! or Young Frankenstein. Too many people in comedy these days are just too afraid of engaging the Silly Gear every now and then. Comedy can be a bit too serious as of late.

Anyhoo, a preview of what's coming up for next week? Van Halen, My Hero, In Search Of, The Nude Bomb, In The Mouth Of Madness, Mr. Bean, The Crow, and more! Probably have it up by late Monday.

Boo-yah!!!

You're the bestest! And yes, Yellowbeard is hilarious and was one I'd also never seen before I saw DGBS show it. The running gag "Us Yellowbeards are never more dangerous than when we're dead!" was priceless.

Say, I don't know if you're into Troma films much (I know you've shown some Toxic Avenger stuff) but you might be interested in one of my (and my dad's) favorites- "Redneck Zombies". It's cheaply done but entertaining like many Troma's but it's pretty funny especially if you've never seen it. Radioactive moonshine + rednecks = Redneck Zombies. It's worth it just to see the guy that every time someone starts getting torn apart by zombies he pulls out a random bottle of liquor out of his back pocket to drink. It's like his back pocket has Santa's magic mini-bar in it.
